Mentorship

Dr. Hussain enjoys mentorship, and has been recognized with numerous awards for teaching, advocacy, and research throughout his medical training. Dr. Hussain has worked as a medical school tutor for many years; he was an editor for USMLE for Step 2 CK, a major medical student review textbook, and also designed practice questions to help medical students prepare for difficult exams. He has also served on medical school and residency admissions committees and helped numerous students navigate complex application processes. In 2022, Georgetown medical students voted to award Dr. Hussain the String of Pearls Teaching Award. 

Dr Hussain is also interested in the intersections between spirituality and medicine. He has worked on interfaith dialogue efforts for over 13 years, and has been interviewed by major media outlets including the New York Times, Al Jazeera, and PBS for his efforts. He has lectured on these topics at numerous major universities. In 2023, he was invited to meet the President of Singapore and discuss strategies for engaging youth in creating more inclusive societies.
